Based in Exeter, Jet Set Concrete provides a range of services including supplying ready mixed concrete, screed and aggregates to customers across the South-West.
The purpose of the shoot was duofold. Firstly we set out to capture a range of photography for use on their new website. The second was to document enough content to create two videos for the client. An ethos video and a video runner.

The weather on the day was very overcast. Although this provided softer light, it did provide some challenges when it came to filming the video content. The team utilised ND filters which allowed them to maintain the shallow depth of field look you see in the video.
This photo and video shoot featured an interview with a co-owner of the business. Filming the interview in the yard did provide some challenges when it came to recording the sound. Luckily the business owner ensured that all vehicles due back to the yard were held outside for the duration of the video. This ensured the audio of the interviewee was not compromised.
Shooting the interview in the yard was a creative decision by the team and interviewee. This choice provided a more interesting and dynamic background as well as adding context to their interview. It was established early in the shoot day that the co-owner regularly attends the various job sites and as a result the team felt this was best captured by placing the subject in the yard environment rather than in his office.
Whilst in the yard, the team captured images of the various aggregates and materials Jet Set provides to customers through the aggregate arm of their business. This was for the purpose of e-commerce.
As well as shooting the interview and yard, the shoot entailed two site visits to document two different services that the company provides. The first site was a house renovation where ready mixed concrete was being supplied and the second was building waste removal, showcasing Jet Set’s grab hire service. When shooting content on site, always being ready to capture content is an absolute necessity. These jobs can be completed quickly and so to avoid missing any content, the team had to be on their toes. The team did multiple takes of some actions, specifically the photography stills that required more precise composition and this was possible with the help and positive collaboration of the drivers who were more than happy to do so in order to guarantee the best results possible.
